4/26  - 7pm, The Starry Sky Reserve - Mont Megantic Quebec: Canada's Mont Megantic National Park and its famous observatory and visitor center has been designated as the world's first International Dark Sky Reserve. Even though the mountain is located far from urban centers, light pollution at the summit more than doubled between 1978 and 1998.  Remi Boucher, a Biologist at the Mont Megantic Astrolab Observatory, will explain the process that led to the designation by the International Dark Sky Association, the development of new outdoor lighting management, and the importance of dark skies (without light pollution) to our environment.

Below is separate film screening (not part of the Sierra Club partnership); this will be a one-time screening in collaboration with the below groups at WAMC Linda Theater.
