Free Coffee & Donuts for Veterans this Friday!

In honor of Veteran's Day, Honest Weight will be providing free coffee and donuts to those who are serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces.

If you've served, please stop by on Friday, November 10th between 8:00am and 4:00pm to enjoy a hot 12 ounce coffee and an original cider donut from Cider Belly Doughnuts in Albany.

Thank you, Veterans, for all that you do.

If you are not a veteran but would like to show your appreciation in honor of Veteran's Day, which is this Saturday, the 11th, though widely celebrated on Friday, here are some ideas:

  1. Attend a Veteran's Day parade. Albany's 62nd Annual parade will be on Saturday at 11am. See Albany.com for more details.
  2. Visit a National Park with a Veteran. This Saturday and Sunday, National Parks are free for all visitors, and spending time in nature has postive mental and physical effects for everyone. Find a nearby National Park here.
  3. Know the difference between Veteran's Day (November 11th) and Memorial Day (the last Monday in May). Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives in service, while Veteran's Day celebrates and honors Veterans who are still with us.
  4. Thank a Veteran. We all know a Veteran, whether it's a parent, grandparent, someone we went to high school with, someone at work. Call them up, write them a postcard, or take them out for lunch. Thank them for their service- they'll appreciate your thought.
  5. Listen to a Veteran. Ask them about their service in a tactful and respectful way, and then listen to any stories they want to share. It can be beneficial, therapeutic, and educational for both of you.
  6. Vounteer at, or donate to, the local VA hospital. In Albany, we have the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center. Their website has a list of items that are always needed and volunteer opportunities.
