Member-Owner Opportunities

Attention Member-Owners- Come on in and help out!

Check below to see which department you can help out in, and check our Incentives for member-owners page to get the most out of your time invested at HWFC.

Here is a list of current needs, sorted by department. Please keep in mind your discount commitment needs when inquiring about assignments.

Member-Owner Testimonials-  From a Bulk department member-owner: "I enjoy learning new things about the products we carry. And investing time along side a great group of people."

Do you love where you invest time? Leave a few words here to let us know!

Are you an Eco-Commuter? Member-Owners who travel to their time-investment shifts using a method of travel other than a personal vehicle are eligible to receive M-O time under our Eco-Commuter program. Contact Sharon at memberservices@honestweight.coop to inquire about details.

Governance incentive- Get into HWFC civic engagement by attending Board meetings and Committee meetings. Plants Department's Seasonal Member Owners
  • Weekly and Monthly time investment opportunities in Plants
  • The 2024 outdoor growing season will start in Spring and the Plants Department is a great seasonal place for member-owners to invest time! Our offerings are all about supporting our community of growers and providing excellent selections for eco-conscious shoppers to choose from.

Those investing time in the Plants Department need to be able to lift heavy objects and stand for their full shift, no matter the weather. This is a fast-paced, labor-intensive, on-your-feet position.  We ask that you seriously consider if this is the best time investment environment for you.

Tasks may include: lifting and loading straw into vehicles, lifting and carrying 40 lb bags of soil, unloading the truck on market days, marking pots for sale, counting and writing plant slips, attending to plant needs and providing excellent customer service.

The ideal member-owner would be detail-oriented, great at following directions and have an interest in plants. Please keep in mind that there is no actual gardening done by the Plants Department; we stock the plants, soils, etc. for our customers’ gardens!

Please email Carol, the Plants Department Manager, for more information: carolsurash@honestweight.coop

Thanks in advance for stepping up to help the Co-op as we help our many gardeners!

A successful Co-op depends on the active support and participation of the membership.
Member-Owner participation is vital to the operation of the Co-op and the most significant part of our ability to successfully govern the Co-op. Invest time, come to membership meetings, and vote!
